Beginning again in the fall of 2015, the students of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan open up the College to the public to host Vetavision.  This now biennial event, which has been called the ‘Great Veterinary Variety Show’, serves as an open house for the college and the entire veterinary profession, and has been running since 1970. The undergraduate students of the WCVM come from all four western provinces to study veterinary medicine and are part of the 20,000 other students on campus at the University of Saskatchewan.

Vetavision attracts a wide variety of attendees from all across Western Canada as we showcase our college and profession. School groups and clubs like pre-vet and 4-H, as well as members of various animal health and agricultural professions, were among the over 4,000 attendees at the September 2012 event. While touring the college, attendees will encounter displays demonstrating the wide range and dynamic nature of the field of veterinary medicine. All of the displays will be interactive, cater to all ages, and include topics such as large animal medicine and surgery, radiology, small animal medicine and surgery, clinical and gross pathology, and anatomy. Many displays will include live animals and some – like the ever-popular Kiddie Corral petting zoo – are dedicated entirely to showcasing them. In addition to the displays, there will be daily videos and guest speakers from both within and outside the College discussing a wide variety of topics as well as opportunities for pre-vet students and others interested in attending the WCVM to meet some of our professors and learn more about the profession in general.

So come on out and experience the exciting world of veterinary medicine! Let’s make Vetavision 2015 bigger and better than ever!
